A reminder from Leinster hockey as we enter the second half of the season for all our league players

With the second half of the season now underway, it is a good time to remind all clubs and schools about the Leinster Hockey Code of Conduct (click here) and ask you to ensure your coaches, umpires, players and spectators are familiar with it, in particular the section that relates to social media.

In respect of social media, the Code of Conduct states

Any Statement in which the whole, part or essence, is made in a public forum.  Such a statement may be made in any public forum including newspaper, internet, social media, blogs etc.,

(i) Public statement must be fair, constructive, appropriate and reasonable and must not involve a personal attack on a player, umpire, official, volunteer, administrator or spectator

I have also been asked to remind all clubs and schools that per the Hockey Ireland Code of Conduct – click here (which applies to all people involved in any way with the sport of hockey in Ireland, including playing in Ireland or representing Ireland away from home) that no person should

o approach or confront an umpire or technical official within the 20-minute cool-off period following the end of the match and behave in an inappropriate or unwelcomed manner, or to argue/question decisions made during the match.
