Today, North Kildare's Walking Hockey group had their last session of the season. We welcomed 5 players in our first session and ended up with 16 - not a bad start for this new community initiative! The group consists of people who had never played before, people who had played in school and former club-players who were desperate to get back onto the pitch with a stick in hand. What we all had in common was enthusiasm, a desire to have fun and our immense drive to help the umpire by calling out every foul perceived.
We ended up with lots of fun, friends, chats, increased fitness - and our own Instagram account. Who knew?!
Well done everyone on a fantastic first season!
We are hoping to run another 16 sessions in the '24-'25 hockey season. Interested? Watch this space - we'll let you know when we start the new season.
