Dear NK Member,
Welcome back to hockey! From Dec 1st, senior training will recommence, as per the usual schedule. As per Covid-19 Hockey Ireland and government guidelines, training will take place in pods of 15 and will be non-contact only. Please stay within your county.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those coaches and volunteers who have been involved in continuing to provide training to our junior members during the past lockdown. It is a credit to the management of our Junior section that almost 200 young players have been benefitting weekly from this.
Players, we would like to thank you for continuing to follow all Covid-19 Hockey Ireland and Government guidelines when playing hockey this season. Parents, coaches, captains, committee members and players have stepped up in incredible numbers to ensure all guidelines are followed, in order to ensure our members remain safe. We wish to sincerely thank you all. It is your time and effort that allows us to continue to play, and enjoy, hockey during this pandemic.
Like in all organisations, it is inevitable that there will be members of the NKHC community who will be tested for Covid-19 and for some to have positive results. It is how we react and manage these situations which will allow us to continue to play the sport we love and to enjoy it safely.
NKHC is committed to adhering to all protocols issued by Hockey Ireland and the government, and we support all of our captains, players, coaches and parents in carrying out these duties.
We understand that going for a Covid-19 test and awaiting results is a very difficult and stressful time for anyone. We want to advise all members of the steps to take, regarding the hockey club, in this situation.
If you are awaiting a Covid-19 test or test results:
- Please inform your coach or captain individually if you are awaiting a Covid-19 test, or test results. The coach/captain will inform our Covid-19 Officer.
- As soon as test results are received, please inform your coach or captain individually again, even if the result is negative. This allows the NKHC committee to take necessary action, if required.*
- The HSE will contact trace any person who receives a positive test result and this will include any North Kildare members who may be deemed ‘close contacts’.
*The coach/captain and Covid-19 Officer will respect the member’s confidentiality.
The club will assist with any contact tracing the HSE require in a timely manner.
Training continues to be non-contact at present. This reduces any risk of being a ‘close contact’. If we continue to practise our Return to Play protocols, which can be found on the North Kildare Hockey Club website, we will continue to minimise any risk of transmission.
If you have any questions, please ask your coach/captain or Team Covid-19 Supervisor.
Stay, and play, safe,
The NKHC Committee.
